2008 Amarillo Field Day - Page 3

ABOVE: John, WD5FOI, had the worst luck of all operators, with his VHF SSB station. Either the band stayed dead, or there were no operators on the air for areas that were open.

Can you spot all of the antennas in the above photo? The Betsy Ross flag was provided by Neal, W5PVI.

GOOD PUBLICITY FROM KVII-TV

ABOVE: Adair, KD5DYP, answered questions for a reporter sent out by Channel 7, KVII-TV. Featured as a part of their 10 p.m. newscast Saturday night, the story well represented Field Day and Amateur Radio. PLENTY OF POWER!

The above generator, brought by Scott, N5SM, provided all the power for the transceivers during the event. It kept providing 7,500 watts, even during the downpour of rain that put five inches of water in some of the parking area Saturday night. Scott reported that the unit used about ten gallons of gasoline during the event.
